Making this small leather pouch requires a bit of time and patience, but the result will surely delight anyone who always carries around far too many small items.
You will need:
- Very thin leather (approx. 0.6 to 1.0 mm)
- Lining fabric
- Zipper (approx. 12 cm long)
- Rotary cutter, scissors
- Sewing machine, possibly with a leather needle
- Thread, scissors, pins
1. Using the rotary cutter, cut two rectangles (each 14 x 10 cm) from the leather. Round off two corners on the long side with scissors (see image 1). Cut two rectangles measuring 16 x 11 cm from the lining fabric.
2. Fold the fabric back along one long side and layer the folded lining fabric, zipper, and leather in that order (image 2).
3. Fold the lining fabric over on the short sides as well (the lining is now folded over on three sides) and pin everything in place (Image 3).
4. Now it's time to use the sewing machine. Sew the lining, zipper, and leather together with a straight stitch. Repeat this on the other side until your project looks like the one in Image 4.
