Cute Pyramid Pouch Tutorial

Sew Fabric Pyramid Pouches. I want to show you two different ways to sew one of these pyramid Pouch! Free Sewing Tutorial.

 

My finished pyramid pouches have a leg length of approximately 19 cm each! You can easily adjust the size to your liking! 

You'll need one piece of lining fabric and one piece of outer fabric, each measuring 20 x 40 cm, as well as half of a separating zipper approximately 44 cm long and a zipper pull.

First, you will need the zipper foot for your sewing machine:

Now lay the lining fabric (in my case, the checked one) in front of you, with the long side at the top. Position the zipper so that the teeth point upwards. You can see this quite well in the picture. Then place the outer fabric on top, right side down.

This is what it looks like from below:

Now sew along the entire long side:

Then topstitch close to the edge on the right side:

When spread out, it should now look like this:

Now it's time for the zipper. Place the two zipper ends side by side. I always thread the left side first, then the right. This works quite well if you position the teeth slightly downwards (towards the lining).  

Push the right side of the zipper into the zipper pull as far as it will go, and then pull the zipper pull upwards. After a few tries and a little practice, you'll get the hang of it!

Now turn everything right side out so the right sides are facing each other (remember not to close the zipper completely, otherwise you won't be able to turn it right side out; leave the zipper about halfway closed). 

Then sew the long edge together, leaving a small opening for turning in the lining. Sew a little slower at the zipper so you don't damage your sewing machine needle...

Turning opening:

Cut off the excess end of the zipper close to the edge:

Now for the two short sides! The seam of the long side should be centered. Pin it in place and sew the side.

Do the same with the inner lining:

Now turn everything through the turning opening:

Push the corners out well from the inside and topstitch the turning opening close to the edge:

Push the end of the zipper out a little bit more as well:

And your pyramid pouch is finished!!! :-D

And with the other half of the zipper, you can sew another little pouch right now!!! ;-) 

Soooo..... And here's the second version! 

This time with four pieces of fabric (the ideal solution for using up scraps!). My fabric pieces are 20x20 cm, two for the lining and two for the outer fabric. You'll also need a zipper approximately 24 cm long with a zipper pull.

Cut the zipper in half and place one half between the outer and inner fabrics, then sew them together right sides facing! The colorful one is my inner fabric.

Sew again along the zipper on the right side. Do the same with the other two pieces of fabric.

Pull up the zipper

Now you need to sew both long edges! And remember not to close the zipper completely!

Leave a turning opening on one long side of the lining. And trim the excess zipper ends again.

Place the remaining open edges on top of each other so that the seams meet exactly:

And step back again:

Do the same with the other side:

Turn around:

And close the turning opening again:

And it's done! The principle is almost exactly the same, except this version has one more seam. But this version is better suited for fabric scraps!
