I was interested in the interplay between half square triangles and half rectangle triangles. I sat down with some graph paper and came up with this.

This welt pocket tutorial also makes use of a backing, (cut from the main fabric) inside the pocket bag so that should the welt pocket gape at all, the main garment fabric is visible not the pocket lining! Most home sewing patterns don’t include this backing and you can leave it out and just use the pocket Bag lining, but I think the backing adds a really nice professional touch.

I've been meaning to make nice shopping bags for about two years, and I finally sat down yesterday afternoon and did it. I wanted something beautiful to carry all the groceries and these are way better than the crumpled paper sacks I've been using.
I made each bag with less than 1/3 of a yard of fabric. I used some upholstery scraps that I had in my cabinet, so I didn't have to buy anything!

Creative Daisy did a great tutorial on making piping, though I’d already made mine by the time I saw it. However, the zipper foot she used was different to the zipper foot that gets bundled in with lots of machines so I wanted to show you it was still possible if you have the regular kind of foot.

I will show you how to create piping by covering cording with fabric and then I’ll show you how to include it in your pillow construction. This tutorial assumes you already know basic pillow construction techniques.

I made this tutorial, because there really weren’t too many others out there, and I really like my method. The thought of pleating an entire piece of cloth back-and-forth and back-and-forth makes my hands feel all full and frustrated. My way is not that way. I would like to introduce you to the recycled Cheerios box method, in which a cardboard strip does most of the thinking work and the whole thing is laid flat rather than folded up in your hands.

I think this guy is so darn cute. If a big eyeball, crazy mouth, and ribbon hair is considered cute. :)

I started out with a simple shape, and then I cut out a mouth. You don’t need to cut out a mouth, but I wanted a place for a baby to grab on to and hold the toy easily. I wanted one huge eyeball so I cut that out of some scrap fabric.
