- 1.90 m of cord, approximately 1 cm in diameter
Easily customizable, this beach bag can be made from the printed canvas fabric of your choice! Its practical drawstring closure allows you to also add interior pockets to store car keys or your phone.
Follow the 5-step beach bag tutorial:
Step 1: Prepare the fabric pieces
Download and print the beach bag pattern
According to the dimensions indicated on the pattern, cut out the different fabric pieces.
The 1 cm seam allowance is included on the pattern.
Step 2: Form the eyelet strip
Stitch the 2 small ends of the strip, right sides together, 1 cm from the edge.
Fold the resulting circle around its entire circumference, wrong side to wrong side, edge to edge and hold by stitching 5 mm from the edge.
Place the eyelets according to the pattern markings (every 7.5 cm). Thread the cord through the eyelets, making sure to start with one of the eyelets positioned near the band's assembly stitch. Tip: Tape each end of the cord to prevent fraying.
Step 3: Assemble the exterior of the beach bag
Sew right sides together on both sides of the outer body of the beach bag. Stitch the resulting tube with the eyelet strip at a 5 mm seam, right sides together, matching the seams. Turn the tube inside out.
Pin the bottom of the beach bag and the tube right sides together, inserting the two ends of the rope. Stitch 1 cm from the edge.
Step 4: Assemble the inside of the beach bag As in step 3, stitch the two sides of the lining body right sides together, 1 cm from the edge, leaving a 15 cm opening in the middle. Assemble the lining bottom to the previously formed tube, in the same way as for the outside of the bag.
Step 5: Finish the beach bag right sides together Slide the lining part right sides together into the outside. Stitch 1 cm from the edge. Turn the beach bag right side out, using the 15 cm opening in the lining. Close the opening with a blind stitch by hand or a pintuck by machine.
