CUT
Essex/interior: cut 2 foot beds and 2 toe pieces
Flannel/exterior: cut 2 foot beds and 2 toe pieces
Knit fabric: cut 2 heel pieces on fold
Batting: Cut 4 foot beds and 4 toe pieces
TOE
Assemble the toe by placing 1 Flannel/exterior toe piece and 1 Essex/interior toe piece right sides together, then stacking on top of 2 layers of batting (fig. 1).
Stitch all layers together on the inside curve (fig. 2).
Clip curve and turn right side out, making sure the batting is sandwiched between the two fabric layers.
Matching notches, baste all other layers together (fig. 3).
ATTACH TOE & HEEL
Attach 1 heel piece to the basted toe piece by folding the heel piece in half right sides together and lining the heel notch up with toe piece at the straight side.
Make sure the center notch of the heel piece lines up with the inside corners of the toe pieces (fig. 4).
Sandwich the basted toe piece in between the two layers of the heel piece right sides together and sew
the straight sides (fig. 5).
Trim and turn the heel piece right side out.
Baste the unsewn heel edges together.
Assemble foot piece by basting wrong side of Essex/interior piece to two layers of batting (fig. 6).
With right sides together, sew toe-heel piece to foot bed piece.
Place Flannel/exterior foot piece on top of sewn foot bed and toe-heel pieces, right sides together (fig. 7).
Sew together leaving a 4” opening in one of the straight sides (for turning) (fig. 8).
Clip curves and grade seam allowances if necessary.
Turn the slipper right side out and hand sew the opening closed using an invisible stitch.
Now do that again for the other slipper!
Enjoy your new pair of cozy cloud slippers!
