I thought it would be fun to make a laundry bag that you would be proud to showcase in your room. you could customize the colors with your decor and have it sitting pretty in the corner. i wish i had one of these during my college dorm days!

The pineapple log cabin block is typically paper pieced, but this modern version is free pieced with stitch and flip triangles creating the signature triangles that characterize this block.

I was interested in the interplay between half square triangles and half rectangle triangles. I sat down with some graph paper and came up with this.

This welt pocket tutorial also makes use of a backing, (cut from the main fabric) inside the pocket bag so that should the welt pocket gape at all, the main garment fabric is visible not the pocket lining! Most home sewing patterns don’t include this backing and you can leave it out and just use the pocket Bag lining, but I think the backing adds a really nice professional touch.

I made each bag with less than 1/3 of a yard of fabric. I used some upholstery scraps that I had in my cabinet, so I didn't have to buy anything!

These 8” Spiderweb Blocks are easy to make and are a great way to use up tiny scraps. I used a technique called foundation piecing, which means that the pieces of the block are sewn to a stabilizing “foundation.” Spiderwebs and other string blocks (blocks that use lots of skinny strips of fabric) can be foundation-pieced to paper, which is torn away after sewing. However, for these small blocks, I used a fabric foundation, which doubles as the solid part of the blocks.
