Bitty Bird Pincushion. Free Pattern and Sewing Tutorial.
For reference, I printed it at an 80% scale.
1. Cut
One piece each for the body (left and right)
Two pieces each for the wings (left and right)
One piece for the belly, one piece for the back, and two pieces for the tail
(Cut the belly, back, and tail without seam allowances at the bottom, as shown in the photo.)
2. Working on the Wings and Tail
For the wings, leave the area indicated in the photo as the window hole, then sew the flap in place, flip it over, shape it, and seal the window hole with a slit.
For the tail, sew the flap, excluding the bottom section, which was cut without a seam allowance, and then turn it inside out.
3. Finishing the Tail
After adding a bit of cotton, draw a vertical line toward the tail feathers as shown in the photo, then sew along the shape.
4. Making the Body
It's a good idea to place scissors in the back and stomach areas beforehand to make sewing them together easier.
5. Flip the body over
Once you've connected the front and back pieces, flip the body over through the circle (as shown in the upper right photo), where the belly and back meet, and insert the cotton.
6. Complete the body
Fill the body with cotton to create a nice shape.
Insert the tail you made into the area where the belly and back meet.
6. Attaching the Tail and Wings
Baste the back, tail, and belly, then stitch forward and backward, maintaining the tail's shape.
Sew the wings along the lines shown in the upper right photo.
7. Finishing
I attached 4mm doll eyes, but you can also use a French knot stitch.
For the beak, I used two rows of red thread, stitching them vertically 3-4 times.
