DIY Simple Fabric Basket

DIY Simple Fabric Basket

Would you like to make a basket like this yourself? I've written out the simple tutorial for you:

Needed
It's best to use canvas or another sturdy fabric for at least one side. Ideally, use canvas for both the interior and exterior fabrics, so you don't need to reinforce anything. If you want to use regular cotton, I do recommend some reinforcement.

1. Cut two pieces of fabric, each 25 cm high and 27 cm wide. Cut out 6x6 cm corners at the bottom.

2. Place the two outer fabric pieces right sides together and sew the side seams and bottom seam closed, leaving a 1 cm seam allowance. Do not sew the corners. Repeat with the inner fabric.

3. Press the side seams open and fold the top edge 1 cm inward.

4. Pull the corners open so that the bottom and side seams meet. Sew in place at a 1 cm interval.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the lining.

5. Insert the two pockets together (wrong sides together) and topstitch the top edge a few millimeters apart.

6. Fold the top edge outwards a few centimetres for a casual effect.

 Finished!

I filled the bags with candy and plants, but you can put anything in them. You could also make them out of oilcloth, which makes them washable. You can put them on your desk to store small knick-knacks, or in your hallway to throw keys in. So, multifunctional. Have fun!
