Laptop Bag Tutorial

 How to sew laptop bag - sewing pattern and tutorial








Needed supplies for a computer of 36,5 x 25,5 x 2,5cm
Outside fabric: 100x50cm
Lining: 100x50cm
Molleton: 90x27,5
Scratch: 20cm
 First line the lining pieces (front, back and long strip) with the batting
 inside pocket
Fold in 2, right faces out, iron flat and topstich next to the fold
 Place on the back panel and sew following the sides and the bottom
 If wanted, divide in dfferent pockets

Sew together the different elements of the lining: sew the long strip along both sides  and the bottom of each panel. Leave a 10cm opening in one of the bottom to be able to turn the back inside out at the end. Put aside for now.
 Outside pocket

Make a nice seem on one of the long sides – that will become the top of the pocket.
On the right face, sew 2 5cm long pieces of scratch 1cm lower that the top and 6cm  fromthe sides (cfr photos)
Sew the pocket right face up on the front panel – right face up. Aligning it to the  sides and the bottom of the front panel
 Straps

Fold both strips of fabric widely – right face in and sew along the longest edge. Turn  over and iron the seems flat. Topstitch all around while folding both ends to the inside
 Sew one of the straps on the front panel, 1 cm above the pocket, the middle aligned to  the middle of the scratch pieces on the pocket
 Sew the other strap at the same place on the back panel (8cm from the sides and the  lowest seam 11cm from the top of the panel
 The outside pocket flap

Sew the other part of the scrath pieces on the lining piece 6cm from the side and 2cm  from the bottom.
Sew the outside and the lining right sides facing and leave an opening of about 10cm to  turn inside out. Turn inside out and iron the seams flat. Topstich all around and shut  the opening.
 Sew on the front panel – 1cm above the pocket and over the straps – making the scratch  pieces match. Be careful that the front panel should be 1cm wider on each side. The top  of the flap should be about 9cm lower than the top of the front panel

 Sew 2 other scratch pieces on the top of the front panel. 3Cm lower than the top and 6cm  from the lateral edges
 Bag strap

Sew the other part of the scrath pieces on the lining piece 6cm from the side and 2cm  from the bottom.
Sew the outside and the lining right sides facing and leave an opening of about 10cm to  turn inside out. Turn inside out and iron the seams flat. Topstich all around and shut  the opening.
 Sew on the back panel – 6cm from the top (cfr photos) and 1cm from the lateral edges
 Assemble the outside

Sew the long strip along both lateral edges and the bottom on both panels – Be careful  not to include the flaps in your seams. Turn inside out
 Put the bag together

Sslip the outside right face out in the lining inside out (both right faces should be  facing). Pin and sew all around the top edge.
 Turn the bag over through the opening you left in the bottom of the lining. Sew this  opening shut.
 Slip the lining in the outside. Iron the top seam flat and top stich all around. And  your bag is done...
