I think I have mentioned on this blog before how much I love a good carry bag. But I what I don't enjoy is sewing bag handles. So I have been tinkering with a bag pattern that doesn't require handles. Well doesn't require handles that need turning through and attaching to the bag (since I'm not sure a carry bag without handles is still technically a carry bag).
The tutorial includes all of the instructions to make a bento bag and a sandwich wrap that folds out to a place mat (below). The projects are beginner-friendly, but we’ve included some nice finishing details so that they will hold up against rough-and-tumble little ones and frequent trips through the washing machine.

This week’s clue for the Orca Bay Mystery Quilt is to make 350 half-square triangle (HSQ) units that measure 2″ square unfinished, 1.5″ finished (when sewn into a block or the quilt itself). After all the cutting I did for the quarter-square triangle units I wasn’t looking forward to this step.

I’m doing a bunch of snowball blocks for a new quilt top and I thought I’d share my method. Snowball blocks normally have smaller corner triangles but I wanted more color in my quilt so mine are bigger.
This is a great block to learn paper piecing on and use up scraps at the same time! You can use it to make a mini quilt with several blocks or just use it as I did for a small pincushion.

Depending on which pattern you are doing you should either have four tubes sewn together for the placemats or two tubes for the table runner. If you are doing both you will have six tubes total!
