DIY Triangle Cosmetic Bag, Zipper Pouch

How To Make Triangle Zipper Pouch. Triangle Zippered Pencil Pouch Free Sewing Tutorial and Pattern.

You will need:

- The sewing pattern
- Two cotton fabrics of your choice (oilcloth would also work)

- Continuous zipper and a zipper pull
- Fusible interfacing H250

- Fusible interfacing H630, or even better, H640

The sewing pattern does not include seam allowances!

Outer fabric: Cut one piece on the fold and reinforce with H250.

Linning fabric: Cut two pieces without the fold and reinforce with H630 or H640.

For the experienced sewers among you, this will all be self-explanatory, but for everyone else, I've included some photos:

Place the zipper (without the pull tab) with the teeth facing up, right sides together, along one of the top edges of the pouch. Place a reinforced lining piece on top, right sides together as well. The zipper will now be sandwiched between the two fabrics. If desired, you can secure the zipper with Stylefix before sewing. Sew the zipper in place.

Shape the sewn edge nicely or iron it carefully. Then place the inner pieces right sides together and fold the outer piece right sides over.  

We now have a sandwich, and the zipper is again sandwiched between an inner piece and the outer piece. Sew the top edge with the zipper.

Shape or iron this side nicely as well, and then topstitch close to the edge.

This is what it looks like now. Now the zipper pull needs to go on the zipper.

I cut a corner into one side of the zipper, pull the zipper pull to the opposite side, and then slide the zipper pull along the cut corner to that side as well.  

Then, holding both sides of the zipper at the end with one hand, I pull the zipper pull with the other side so that both sides come together.

Fold the resulting package so that the outer piece and both inner pieces are right sides together. Sew the bottom edge of the inner pieces, leaving a 4-5 cm opening for turning.

Now sew the sides. Sew as close as possible to the zipper teeth, but DO NOT sew the zipper in place!

This is really important and I've made it wrong countless times myself.

Now sew the bottoms. To do this, fold the flaps as shown in the picture and sew them with a sewing machine.

Once you've done this for all the tabs, you should have something like this in front of you. Simply turn it right side out through the opening, shape it, and close the opening.
