Mini Scrappy Zipper Pouch

Mini Scrappy Zipper Pouch

One of the most popular tutorials on my site is my Scrappy Zipper Pouch project. It is a simple zip pouch with panels made of fabric strips. Very easy and a fun project, so I decided to make a new one and scale the size down for a mini version.

To scale the size down, I’ve used a 7″ zip, two panels measuring 7 1/2″ x 5″, and each fabric strip is 2″ wide. I then followed the same steps as my tutorial here.

For this one I decided to use a colour scheme of black, white and pink. Love the combination, but I’ve realised I have very little black in my stash. It’s not a colour I’m usually drawn to when fabric shopping.

I used a metal zipper, which can be a little bit trickier to work with than a nylon coil zip, as you can’t easily shorten them or sew over them as the teeth will break your needle. Lately I’ve been using the zipper technique from this tutorial and I really like it. Sewing zippers this way leaves you with a lovely clean and tidy finish.

Ahh zipper pouches! I’ll never get sick of sewing them!
