I offer you a simple and original summer handbag, which is sewn easily and quickly.
Materials.
1. Fabric for the front side of the bag 44x46 cm. (The size of the fabric I give a little more than you need).
2. Fabric for lining the bag 44x70 cm.
3. The fabric for the handle is 145x8 cm (in this case, the length of the handle depends on your height).
4. Non-woven fabric.
5. Adhesive double-sided gossamer.
6. Auxiliary fabric-white calico.
7. The cord is about 12-13 cm long (depending on the size of the button).
8. Wooden (or any other) button. Preferably a large one.
9. Paper millimeter.
10. Standard sewing tools.
Building a pattern.
1. Draw a rectangle of 38x26 cm on the millimeter paper. On one side of the rectangle in the corners, measure 3.5 cm, draw squares. The pattern of our simple bag turned out.
Front side of the bag.
1. Cut out two details from the facial fabric according to the pattern.
2. Glue these parts with an auxiliary cloth (white calico) using a double-sided gossamer adhesive cloth.
To do this, we cut out the detail from the adhesive fabric according to the pattern. We put a piece of gossamer on the calico, on top of it we lay out the part of the facial fabric with the wrong side on the gossamer. Iron with a dry iron. We cut out our detail and iron it well again with a dry iron on the side of the calico.
We also glue the second front part of the bag.
3. Cut out two 6x4 cm pieces from the lining fabric. Glue them with non-woven fabric.
4. Along the long side, bend on both sides by 1 cm, iron it. Lay a line along the edges of this strip. Fold it in half. The resulting belt loop is 2 cm wide.
If the fabric is thin, it is better to cut out a belt loop with a width of 8 cm. Fold in half lengthwise, then fold each side in half inside. Iron well, lay the seam on the long side.
5. At a distance of 9 cm from the top edge, pin the loops on the front side of one of the parts of the bag. Lay the seam at a distance of 3-4 mm from the edge of the front part of the bag.
6. In the center of the upper part of one of the parts of the bag, sew a button loop. The line should be laid at a distance of 3-4 mm from the edge of the part.
You can take a rope or sew a narrow strip of fabric. The loop should look towards the bottom, the ends towards the edge.
When calculating the length of the cord, you need to take into account the size of the button, plus two allowances (in this case, the allowance will be the distance between the needle and the right side of the foot). Better cut the rope longer. If you miscalculate, you can redo it. And you'll always have time to cut it off.
7. Fold the two parts of the front part of the bag facing each other. Pin the sides and bottom together. Lay the machine stitch on these sides to the width of the foot (the distance between the needle and the right side of the foot).
At the beginning and at the end, make anchors. In places where the loops are sewn, sew twice.
8. Iron the seams.
9. Expand the corners of our workpiece so that the side seam and the bottom seam coincide. To prevent the fabric from shifting, it is necessary to fix the position with a pin.
Lay the seam on the width of the foot. At the beginning and at the end, make anchors.
10. Unscrew the part. The face will be outside.
Lining.
1. Cut out two details from the lining fabric according to the pattern.
2. Sew the two parts along the bottom and side seams, leaving a hole on one side for turning out a length of 10-13 cm. Iron out the seams. Moreover, in the place for turning out, it is also necessary to smooth out the allowance in order to make it easier for you to sew this hole in the future.
Then sew up the corners. At the beginning and at the end, make anchors. (We act in the same way as in the case of the front part of the bag).
Assembling the bag.
1. Without turning out the lining, insert the turned-out front part into it. It turned out that our two parts of the bag were folded face to face.
Fasten the neck with pins, combining the side seams.
Lay the seam along the neck to the width of the foot.
2. Turn out through the hole in the lining. It is good to straighten the neck of the bag. You can iron it with an iron.
Next, there are two options:
1. Well straighten the seam, lay the seam along the fold. Stitch length 3 mm.
2. Straighten the seam so that the wrong fabric is on the front side exactly on the allowance. It turns out this edging. Stitch length 3 mm.
3. Secure the loop. To do this, manually sew it to the edge of the neck of the bag. Try to make sure that your stitches are not visible.
4. Through the hole in the lining, sew the button to the front of the bag. To do this, you need to find the middle of the part on the front side. Attach the resulting lapel of the bag. Attach the loop and button. Mark the place.
5. Manually sew the hole in the lining with a secret seam.
Bag handle.
The length of the handle will be different for everyone. It all depends on your height. Measure the desired length of the handle. Add 20-25 cm. They are necessary for bending and tying.
1. Cut out a strip of the required length and width of 7 cm from the facial fabric. Glue with non-woven fabric. Tuck in the short sides of 1 cm, lay the line on the front side close to the edge. Make the stitch length 3 mm.
2. Fold the strip lengthwise in half, then each side in half inside. Smooth, lay along the long sides of the machine stitch close to the edge. Stitch length 3 mm.
I advise you to just make the anchors at the beginning and at the end of the line. This part of the handle will not be actively used. Therefore, you do not have to worry that the seam will part.
3. Insert the ends of the handle into the loops, tie the knots.
The bag is ready!
