I saw this neat-o idea for making lunch bags on Skip To My Lou and since I am in an Oil cloth-crazed phase lately I thought how perfect would these be for a picnic! I changed it up a bit though and added a velcro closure so the oilcloth would stay folded shut and make carrying the lunch bag a little easier for smaller hands. Wanna see what I did?

So, it occurred to me…after receiving several emails from you lovelies…that maybe I should give you a run down of how to sew with bias tape after I posted the Double Oven Mitt Tutorial here.  This project uses quite a bit of bias tape and I didn’t even think that maybe some of you might not sew with it often or even ever to really know how to put it on.

It’s basically two oven mitts that are connected in the middle, kinda like mittens on a string but cooler and with a greater function.  That middle section plays a key part in protecting your forearms and clothing from larger and sometimes heavier hot pans (yeah, I’m talking to you Lasagna pan!)
