How to Make an Easy Fabric Basket. Free Fabric Basket Pattern and Tutorial.
Material
- Cotton fabric (2 different ones for the outer fabric and the lining)
- Fusible interfacing / fiberfill (medium thickness)
Pattern pieces (DOWNLOAD PDF PATTERN HERE) :
piece 1 - cut 1x from outer fabric
cut 1x from lining
Pattern (Dimensions: base 12x12 cm, height 14 cm)…
Seam allowances are NOT included .
Sewing instructions :
Cut out all pieces, do not forget the seam allowances. Iron the fusible interfacing on the
left side of the outer fabric.
Place the lining fabric on the outer fabric (right sides facing), pin and stitch the top edge.
Unfold and press the seam allowance towards the outer fabric.
Join the short edges, so that each outer fabric and lining is lying on top of each other (right sides facing).
Pin and close the seam. Leave a gap from 5-6 cm in the lining part.
Place the fabricin a way, that the seam is in the middle and the bottom edges are joining each other.
Press open the seam allowance…
…and stitch the bottom seams from outer fabric and lining.
Sew the boxed corners: Fold the piece open, match the side with the bottom seam …
…pin and stitch across.
Stitch the second corner and the corners in the lining the same way.
Turn right side outside and close the gap (by topstitching very close to the edge or by hand stitching using the invisible ladder stitch).
Put the lining inside the basket, iron and fold the upper edge to the outside.
You´re done!
