Unfortunately, a few images vanished into the digital void during the editing process. A major rescue attempt proved unsuccessful, so some pictures are missing. I hope, however, that you will still be able to follow along with the text.

Okay, let’s get started:

You will need:

Outer pocket:

2 x 27 cm (width) x 24 cm (height) fabric AND S 320 interfacing (stiff interfacing)
1 x 27 cm (width) x 10 cm (depth) fabric AND S 320 interfacing
4 x 7 cm (width) x 23 cm (height) fabric AND S 320 interfacing

Inner pocket:

2 x 34 cm (width) x 27 cm (height)

4 eyelets (8 mm)
1 meter of cord

Iron the interfacing onto the wrong side of all fabric pieces for the outer pocket. The measurements already include the seam allowance. The seam allowance is 1 cm (presser-foot width).

1) (Image missing)

Sew the two pieces of the outer pocket to the base (27 cm x 10 cm) on the left and right sides. Press the seam allowances outward (i.e., press them toward the large fabric pieces).

Stitch along the seam allowance on the right and left sides, close to the edge, from the outside.

3)

Place the side panels in position and stitch them down.

4)

Close the side sections on both sides. Turn the sewn piece right side out.

5)

Next, topstitch the side panels along their outer edges. This means sewing 4 seams in total. Be sure to stay 1 cm away from the bottom edge. Mark this spot with a fabric-marking pen so you don’t accidentally continue sewing past it.

6)

Turn the sewn piece inside out and pin the side panels to the base. Stitch the side panels onto the base.

7)

Take the fabric for the inner pocket and, along the bottom edge (the long, 34 cm side), mark the opening for turning the piece right-side out using two pins (make sure the opening is large enough for you to comfortably reach inside with your hand). Sew the bottom and the sides together, right sides facing.

8)

Mark a 10 cm corner on both the right and left sides, then sew along these markings. Trim off the corner, leaving a 1 cm seam allowance from the stitching line.

9) (Image missing)

Turn the inner bag inside out (wrong side facing out) and the outer bag right side out. Place the outer bag inside the inner bag. Use Wonder Clips to secure the top edges of both bags together, then sew them along the top edge.

10) (Image missing)

Turn the bag right side out through the opening left for turning, then close the opening. You can do this by hand using a ladder stitch (mattress stitch), or by folding the seam allowances inward and topstitching close to the edge using a sewing machine.

Topstitch along the upper edge from the outside, keeping close to the edge. Mark four points along the top edge of the bag and insert the eyelets at these positions. Please refer to the instructions included with the eyelet package for guidance on how to attach them.

Cut the cord in half and thread it through the eyelets. Don’t forget to tie a knot! This is what your bag should look like when finished.
