Simple Patchwork Zipper Bag Tutorial and Pattern. Even if you are new to bag-making, this is a simple project that is fast and easy!
What You Will Need:
Fabric scraps
10 pieces of 10”x1.75” fabrics
Cotton fabric for lining (measure after the outer layers are done)
7” zipper
Wrist handle
DOWNLOAD PATTERN
INSTRUCTION:
1. Cut out the pattern pieces
2. Sew your little scraps right sides together, trim sides and leave an opening at the top to turn
3. Glue the top of the scraps or top of the fabric body using fabric glue or you can always pin them, I was just lazy
4. Arrange the scraps according to your taste and your own color scheme
5. Top stitch the first row of the scraps so they will stay in place when sewing the zipper (approx. 1/8”)
6. Sandwich the first layer to the second layer so that the second layer’s scraps are between the top of first layer while the second layer is facing down
7. Here is how it would look when I open the second layer before sewing
8. After stitching the layers together, top stitch each layer so that the scraps will face down
9. Both sides after sewing the layers together
10. The back side...You should trim those excess threads :p
11. stitch the edges of your zipper with scraps, approximately fold 2” x the width of your zipper
12. Then sew the outer and lining to the zipper (similar method as most of my zippered wallets), being careful not to stitch the scraps
13. You are done...just need to close the opening made to turn the pouch on the lining by hand
