Mini Tote Bag Tutorial

These mini totes are so easy to make that you may not want to stop at one! Have a different color for every day of the week!

MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT

1 x contrasting handle fabric (H)
2 x contrasting top fabric (T)
2 x lining fabric (L)
2 x outside bag bottom fabric (B)
Scissors
Seam allowance 5mm
Thread

Mini Tote Bag Pattern

 

Step 1.   Using the pattern on the final page cut out all of the pieces. Sew the tops and bottoms together. Top right side facing up, bottom wrong side facing up.

Step 2.   Sew the front and back together. Top right side facing up, bottom wrong side facing up.

Step 3.   Make the bottom square by folding the base stitch and side stitch together with the bag still
inside out. Sew a straight line 4cm from the corner point.

Step 4.   Turn the bag inside out.

Step 5.   Repeat step 2 & 3 for the lining.

Step 6.  Fold the handle in half and then fold sides to match up in the middle. Fold in half again and stitch the 70cm length. Handles will be 2cm wide now. Cut in half so you have 2 handles.

Step 7.   Fit outside bag into the lining (lining wrong side out) and pin the handles between outside and lining. Sew around the top leaving gap for turning.

Step 8. Turn the bag inside out and fit the lining inside. Stitch around the top to close gap. 

Your bag is ready!
