Should there not be a "pocket" attached with the zipper. As the pattern sits now, anything put in the zipper will free float between the outer and inner fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally new to sewing, so can someone explain what exactly the purpose for the cut on the bottom of the bag is? Why is it not just flat? It has an extra rectangle of material going across most of the bottom. How exactly do you take it from this step, to being the bottom of the bag?
ReplyDeleteThe little bits are missing, because that is what makes the bottom of he bag flat. When you have the sides sewn up, you fold open the bag on the side seam, so the side seam is in the center. Then you will see a hole below the side seam and where the fabric from the bottom of the bag is. Bring the bottom of the bag up to the fabric with the side seam centered and sew across it with what looks like a 1/4 inch seam allowance. That closes the hole and makes the bottom of the bag flat, so it will stand up. Hope that makes sense. The photo right underneath the one that has the bag looking like a T with the sides already sewn up, shows what has to happen next. I think you can see it better in the floral fabric though.

ReplyDeletewhat are the measurements? I did one similar to this and mine seems so big compared to this ? I did the little cut out rectangle to 5 by 8 . the buttom of the bag is so big in my mind .
